Why goat milk soap?

At first glance, seeing goat milk in a list of ingredients for soap may seem a little odd. But, there are several potential benefits to having goat milk in a soap. In this article we’ll overview a few.

Creamy, rich lather. Goat milk contains saturated, and unsaturated fats. Saturated fats aid in increasing a soaps lather, while unsaturated fats nourish the skin.

Packed with nutrients. Goat milk contains an array of vitamins such a vitamins A, b6, b12, and E. Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that has been linked in studies “to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production. (healthline)” Vitamin E is crucial in the skins natural defense. According to Dr. Michels of Oregon State, “vitamin E is an integral part of the skin’s antioxidant defenses, primarily providing protection against UV radiation and other free radicals that may come in contact with the epidermis. (LPI,OSU)” These vitamins In conjunction with tryglycerides, caprylic, capric, caproic fatty acids, work to lock in moisture and reinforce your skins natural hydro-lipid barrier. Finally goat milk contains lactic acid which is used in cosmetics to smooth skin, by removing dead skin cells.

Cleans, not strips. Goat milk is a natural exfoliant by nature of containing caprylic acid which naturally cleanses skin. It also contains the probiotic lactobacillus, which according to the National Institute of Health “when applied to the skin can act like an anti-inflammatory as well as enhance the antimicrobial properties of the skin. (NIH)” The article goes on to conclude that “Results show that lactobacillus extract was effective in reducing skin erythema, repairing skin barrier, and reducing skin microflora. (NIH)”

Industrial skincare has it all wrong. Synthetic chemicals, moisturizers, and other nonsense are not at all necessary and could very well be more hurt than help. Because of the undeniable properties of goat milk, we decided to include it as one of our key ingredients to create an all natural, nourishing soap.
