Who We Are
Hi we’re Skylee and Jaden! We are fifth and sixth generation Montanans who have a passion for homesteading, health, and forming strong relationships with local farmers and ranchers. Like many folks out there, we do our best to live the most healthy, and natural lives possible free from the chemicals that are found in just about everything. If you’re like us, you’re probably sick of reading an ingredient label and not even knowing how to pronounce them, let alone know what they are. If that’s the case then you are in the right place. We decided to do something about it by starting this company; with a mission of providing all natural, limited ingredient skincare products, using locally sourced ingredients, because we believe that what you put on your skin matters.
What We Believe
From the mountains of Northwest Montana, we started Rocky Mountain Traders because we believe labels should be easy to read and we should know what all the ingredients are that go into the products that we use. Here’s our promise to you.
Quality: We believe that the best ingredients are the ones that require the least processing, which is why we use time tested skincare ingredients like beef tallow, as opposed to low cost, low quality alternatives. We Believe that quality begins at the origin and that’s why we source the primary ingredients for our products locally. We use beef tallow from a local ranch in Montana, and raw, unfiltered, honey and beeswax from a bee keeper in Central Montana. With an attention to quality, all of our products are hand made in small batch and packaged by hand to ensure all standards are met.
Transparency: We always list our ingredients, in the order they’re used, never using vague terms that can hide ingredients. We never use synthetic chemicals such as Phthalates, Parabens, or Fragrance.
Sustainability: We source the primary ingredients for our products locally, from small farms and ranches that have implemented sustainable practices. We use limited packaging, and whenever possible we use kraft packaging that is recyclable and biodegradable, with an emphasis on limiting plastics.
What you put on your skin matters, and our mission is to make the best possible products with locally sourced ingredients, for a difference you can feel.

What We Don’t Use
Are a plasticizer found in many soaps and shampoos as well as a myriad of other products. Phthalates have been associated with hormone disruption and increased cancer risk according to ewg.org. Read more here.
Phthalates
Parabens
Are a preservative that are found in many cosmetics. Scientific studies suggest that there may be a link between parabens and hormone disruption, cancer, and reproductive issues according to ewg.org. Read more here.
Most companies use fragrances to scent their products. These fragrances can contain a number of chemicals such as phthalates and even formaldehyde which may cause a plethora of health issues. Moreover companies don’t have to tell you what’s in these fragrances because it’s considered a trade secret. Read more here.
Artificial Fragrances
Such as petroleum based dyes and mica powders are commonly used in the skincare industry to color products. Mica powders contain compounds such as titanium dioxide, and iron oxide. Although the risk of cancer from these compounds are low, why put these on your skin when better alternatives exist.
